About

CRYSTAL PEREA (passionate and travel-sized) prefers the work of Shania over Mark Twain. She is a Mexican-American, lesbian writer living in Los Angeles. Originating in The OC, she survived weekly detention as an emo nerd in Catholic school, and found a fun escape in writing and drawing comics leading to her earning a BFA in animation from Laguna College of Art and Design. Since 2017, she has worked as a storyboard revisionist and artist at 20th TV Animation on American Dad and Family Guy. She is a 2025 Hillman Grad Writing Track Mentee, 2024 NHMC Series Scriptwriters Program fellow, a 2024 and 2025 Disney Entertainment Television (DET) Writing Program semi-finalist, and a three-time second rounder at Austin Film Fest. Now she writes comedic stories with heart about queer Latinas finding themselves, dealing with female rage, and seeking freedom from patriarchal expectations. She is driven to create stories that are authentic and can put her passion into. She loves the solution seeking involved in writing and all the possibilities and limitations that come with it. In her free time you can catch her hiking, playing beach volleyball, or making playlists for the soundtrack to her scripts.
